Following on from a very successful expression of interest, the investment in baskets and equipment has been made and a coach secured with sessions ready to start in July for players who are entering Year 1 or Year 2 this coming September.

When

The sessions will last 45 minutes from 5:30pm-6:15pm every Thursday and will be run by Coach Lucie who is one of the graduates of our girls programme. The sessions are suitable for all levels of experience, for boys and girls alike and are designed to be a fun introduction to the sport. Players will have a chance to meet new friends and learn new skills whilst being active and blowing off some steam.

Where

The sessions take place at St Augustine's Building at Cardinal Newman College accessed off St Austin's Place. If you are unfamiliar with the venue then please see the how to find us here. On entering the venue head straight on, down the stairs (or to level -1 in the lift). The main sports hall will be in front of you, but the sessions will take place in the activity space the first door on the left. This is a brilliant space that is safe and private for the children, that has plenty of room for parents and carers to sit and watch the session.

Each child should wear comfortable clothes (shorts and a t shirt along with clean trainers is perfect) and bring some water to keep hydrated. Basketballs and bibs will be provided so there is no need to bring your own. We have purchased lots of size 4 basketballs that are lighter but still bounce like a normal ball to help our players get used to the feel of a basketball safely.

Cost

As an introductory rate and to support families to access the sessions, the directors have supported a fixed fee to include all Summer sessions of just £20. We will be announcing the regular monthly commitment in September that will be the ongoing cost shortly, but to support accessing the session initially, it will just cost £20 which could include 6 sessions. As with all of our Junior basketball offerings, the first session is absolutely free so children can come and try before committing. After the first session, passes can be purchased here.

Progression

As the children progress, they will be able to join our Under 9 and Under 11 sessions in the same venue on the same evening which will help parents and carers out juggling after school activities.

Securing your child's place

For those who have signed up to the expression of interest form, an email will be sent shortly confirming your child's place. For those who didn't fill out the form, please drop us an email at prestonbasketballclub@gmail.com to book on. Places are limited but we intend to have as many children getting involved as possible.
